Do you know how to tell the difference between real news and fake news? In this essay, I will help you understand the difference between real and fake news, why it is important to know the truth about what others’ opinions and our own, and why it is important to have evidence-based laws/policies/and beliefs. First I will talk about how to tell the difference between real and fake news. Some of the easiest ways to tell the difference is some sites that you use to find information on real or fake news. Good sites are org, edu, and gov. You can also use many different sites to see if the news is true or not. If you go to just one site you have a 25% chance of all of the information in the site is correct and let me tell you how I know. Recent studies say that you can’t always trust a site because a lot of them can be changed like Wikipedia. They also say that 54% of people that look for information in the Internet will only look at on site. Wynne Davis a reporter for the National Public Radio (NPR) says, “Fake news stories can have real-life consequences. On Sunday, police said a man with a rifle who claimed to be “self-investigating” a baseless online conspiracy theory entered a Washington, D.C., pizzeria and fired the weapon inside the restaurant.” This is a good example of fake news, because fake news can be used or found in real life scenarios. Another thing to know is the truth. Why is it important to know the truth about what others opinions are. Well because if you believe everything a person says then you will never know the truth if it is false information. Yes you may not care about what other people’s opinions are but you still shouldn’t criticize them about it because in years from know that person could be you boss. So when you here an opinion you should most likely go see if it is true or not then if wrong then notify the person. Why it is important to have evidence-based laws/polies/believes?
